What is Teyolia?

Teyolia (teh-YOH-lee-ah) is a Nahua Indigenous concept that represents "the source of life." This essence resides within the heart, embodying memory, energy, inclination, emotion, understanding, and insight. Teyolia is an inseparable part of a person's being throughout life; it is not a physical entity that can be removed or detached.
Teyolia has a transcendental nature that continues its journey in the afterlife. Teyolia is liken to a "divine fire," symbolizing of life, warmth, transformation, and divinity. Thus,
Teyolia is the force that gives life and connects the physical world with the spiritual.

 ¨In Ixtli In Yollotl ¨
(een-EESH-tlee een-YO-loht-l) meaning "Face and heart" is a foundational Nahua philosophy that speaks to cultivating a "refined face and a strong, compassionate heart." This teaching emphasizes that one's thoughts, actions, and demeanor should embody harmony, clarity, and authenticity, avoiding anything that leads to chaos, distortion, or harm.
To have a "good heart, humane and steadfast" is to live in wisdom and alignment with the ways of Teotl, the sacred and animating force of the universe. In this philosophy, true wisdom is reflected in the balance and integrity of one's inner and outer self, revealing a deep understanding of life’s sacred interconnectedness.
